I’m Not a Bad Mom Because I Chose Not to Breastfeed

Please welcome Chrissy, today's writer in the I'm Not a Bad Mom Series. If you'd like to share your own story, please see details for submissions here.  As the oldest of six children, I watched my mom closely as she raised my younger siblings. I knew that I wanted to be a mom, so I soaked up everything that she did, in hopes that I would be an amazing mother like her someday. I watched as she … [Read more...]

Ever Feel Like a Bad Parent When you Probably Shouldn’t? Share Your Story.

Mama guilt is the absolute worst. We all get judged as parents for one thing or another, but more often than not that judgement even comes from within ourselves. Some days I do have to remind myself that I’m not a bad mom, even if I do things that go against the norm for example. So I’m inviting you to think about the things that you do as a parent that you believe do not make you a bad … [Read more...]

I’m Not a Bad Mom Because I Miss Mornings at Home

I'm so honored to welcome Cheryl today, this week's writer in the #NotaBadMom series. Working moms, I'm thinking this one might hit home. (If you'd like to contribute a guest post to #NotaBadMom, please find details here.) It's a corollary to my working mom existence, one that most people don't recognize until they've had to do some thorough analysis to figure out how my life really works. I … [Read more...]

Please welcome Kara, this week's guest writer for the "I'm Not a Bad Mom Series". I also often find myself ignoring the screaming for my own sanity, but most of all not listening to the judgmental voices within and without. I think it makes me a better mom too. If you'd like to submit a post for this series, please find details here. I'm currently seeking contributions for September. It’s … [Read more...]

This mother’s … [Read more...]

I’m Not a Bad Mom Because I Don’t Have Answers to the Big Questions

Please welcome Meryl for this week's "I'm Not a Bad Mom" post. I can definitely relate to this one. If you'd like to contribute to this weekly Thursday series, please find more info here. It started with a fish.  A beta fish.  A dead beta fish. As is the case with many small animals, I'm not sure what the exact cause was, but he died immediately after I changed his water. In a quick, … [Read more...]

I’m Not a Bad Mom Reboot #notabadmom

I used to have a weekly series "I'm Not A Bad Mom" in 2011/2012. I really liked it but fell out of doing it for various reasons, mostly because I was struggling at the time and stopped blogging for a bit. But I'm bringing it back. I'm Not a Bad Mom Reboot! We all get judged as parents for one thing or another, and sometimes that judgement even comes from within ourselves. Some days I do have to … [Read more...]

I’m not a bad mom because I need my fifteen minutes first. #notabadmom

Tracie New Square

Today I'd like to welcome Tracie to the blog. I just love this post because we can so easily feel guilty putting ourselves first as moms. But unless we speak up, get our needs met and feel our best, we can't be our best for our families. Don't you agree? :) Thank you Tracie for sharing your experiences with us! Also, just FYI, I'm putting out an open invite the the #notabadmom Thursday series. … [Read more...]

I’m #notabadmom because I’m happy school’s back

My kids aren't even in REAL school yet, but man I'm oh so happy that school is back in session. Actually this is the first time Ellie (2 1/2) has EVER gone to school and she's only in one morning a week. But I love having a couple hours of ME time! And that doesn't make me a bad mom. My oldest Ronin (almost 5) is now in Pre-K 4 days a week. I still have Ellie during that window but its a … [Read more...]
