“Butterfly Blogger” T-Shirts for Suicide Prevention

Butterfly Blogger Feature Image

A couple of weeks ago I drew this original art I call “Blogger Butterfly” to apply for a scholarship/trip to the blogging conference #SoFabCon14. They asked for creativity and I gave it to them. If you take a look it says “BLOGGER” in the body of the butterfly and then within the wings I have listed words that describe the many facets of being a blogger.

The blogging community is huge and to me this art truly represents all of the skills and multiple “hats” that we as bloggers and social media influencers wear every day. Plus I just think it looks cool. I love butterflies! The beauty and the symbolism, but of course I’m biased.

This is the actual printed shirt. I am thrilled at how vibrant the colors turned out!
FYI, In the pic above I am wearing a size medium unisex shirt (just for reference.)

You may be aware that I recently joined the Board of Directors of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention in Washington. Its my cause of choice, my love and my passion. And for the last 3 or so years I’ve been fundraising for this very worthy organization.

Last year I did the BIG AFSP National Overnight Walk in Washington DC (17 miles literally overnight from dusk till dawn) and raised almost $4,000 for national suicide prevention programs. And this year, the foundation is bringing The Overnight to my home Seattle, Washington. I of course am thrilled, but I am also nervous about my prospects for raising funds again (here’s my fundraising page.). I mean, I just did this last year. And we’re required to raise a minimum of $1,000 to do the walk, and I WILL NOT miss this one whatever I do. (Want to know what your money will do? Check this post.)

Anyway, I knew that I’d have to get creative this year.

So guess what?! I’m reaching out to my friends in the vast blogging community to help me get there! I just love you guys, truly.

With the help of my good friend Julie of Togs N Things I’m producing the T-shirts. Approximately 45-50% (or more) of your cost will go to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. (Please note friends: This is for charity, so prices are not super low but believe me its worth it! The quality of the shirts in awesome AND its for a vital cause.)

  1. This is a wonderful thing you are doing! I too participated in a Walk out of the Darkness in New Orleans last year in honor of my Dad. I raised $700! WTG on your huge $4000! I hope your tshirt fundraiser is equally as successful. Check out my little business – custom living lockets – whoodatowljewelry.com – I designed one for my dad when I did my walk & I found it very therapeutic. If you decide to design one, email me whoodatowljewelry@gmail.com and I’ll donate my commission to AFSP. Thanks!
