Wahl Hot/Cold Massaging Gel Pack {Review}

Oh my aching back!

I have had low back issues since high school, a herniated disk discovered in my teens from playing softball.  That’s over 20 years of pain! Yes, I’m turning 40 this year. Anyway, with my first pregnancy 5 1/2 years ago, it got much worse. Then lugging around a giant baby…then another pregnancy…and then two to drag around. I often have to see the chiropractor to get me through.

He always recommends ice and massage to help relieve the pain and decrease swelling. And while its awesome to be able to make time for an actual hour-long massage at their office, its not always feasible with the kids and schedules and child care needs. You know how it is.

But taking care of my physical pain is very important self care. When my back is hurting I can’t sleep well and that absolutely affects my mental health as well. Its just one big pain cycle.

And I bet many of you can relate. Wahl recently surveyed 2,000 men and women nationwide including moms, and 84 percent of moms with kids under the age of 18 stated that they’ve experienced muscle or join pain in the past 12 months. And eight out of 10 said that pain was in 3 or more places.

But good news. Wahl Hot/Cold Massagers and Gel Packs can help. www.WahlMassagers.com.

This week I got to check out the Hot/Cold Therapy Massaging Gel Pack from Wahl – It’s one-part massager, one-part hot/cold gel pack. Unlike typical hot/cold packs, this first-of-its-kind product combines two of the most common treatments–temperature therapy and massage– to offer pain relief. It also includes Velcro straps for hands-free use. (MSRP 24.99)

I love it because you can freeze it or quickly microwave it to provide cold or hot therapy. There’s a small massaging insert that gives the extra umph when you need it. The gel pack is wide enough to cover the full width of my back, and it stays in place as I’m running around the house.

And it feels good!

Wrap the velcro a little tighter and even my 5-year-old can enjoy.

Wahl also sells other massage products that I haven’t tried, but they sound lovely too. Any would make great Mother’s Day gifts for the 84 percent of us who experience muscle and joint pain.

Visit Wahl at www.WahlMassagers.com to purchase and on Facebook and Twitter for more information.

Now for the really good news! As a Mother’s Day treat Motherhood Unadorned is giving away a Hot/Cold Therapy Massaging Gel Pack just like the one I’ve tried out.

My pain is primarily upper back but given that I swim a lot, occassionally I have lower back/pelvic pain as well. This would be PERFECT for when I’m not on the couch and need to move around. I am SO glad you just posted this. If I don’t win, I will probably buy one (or two) to have because it looks awesome.

  2. I get weird back pain now and then. Usually when I tweak myself somehow. Otherwise it’s a weird shoulder pain. Ow. This looks great, though. Also? My dad totally needs one, too.

  3. This looks great! Hubby will need it! :)

  4. I herniated a disk in my back when a 2 hand touch girls only game in college turned into an all out free for all. I tackled 2 of the proctors and knocked their heads together. Then I heard something rip in my back.

I’ve been dealing with back issues for over 14 years now and I am so tired of it. I’d love to get my hands on this!

My hubby has a bad shoulder and his back has been a problem ….I love the idea of heat / cold and massage! Over the top compared to just one or the other!

  6. JoEllen says:

I have lower back issues and this sounds great.

  7. I deal with neck pain, and these would definitely be a great help.
