Warning Signs of Suicide

Each of us as individuals CAN help prevent suicide.

I know it might seem like suicide would never affect you personally. Or that you’d never know if someone you love is struggling.

But believe me, suicide could someday affect your life.

What I want to stress to you today on World Suicide Prevention Day is that little ole YOU without a doubt CAN make a difference in the lives of your loved ones.

Most suicidal individuals give at least some warning of their intentions. And in many cases, its up to loved ones and friends to take action to help those who are suffering. Its not easy for the person in the midst suicidal ideation and crisis to actively seek help. Especially in our society where mental health struggles are often taboo.

So with the goal of raising awareness to prevent suicide, I wanted to share some of the most common WARNING SIGNS for suicide. These of course are not all inclusive, but if you see any of these behaviors in your loved ones its time to seek help. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is a perfect first resource for finding help. Call 800-273-TALK (8255).
